Welcome
We hope you find everything that you need, if not feel free to contact us!
What we Offer?
Our season runs April-September (inclusive) and we run weekend and evening sessions most weeks. On a weekend we run morning (9:45-12:15) and afternoon (12:45-15:15) sessions offering kayaking, canoeing or raft building. We can accommodate up to 20 participants on the water at anyone time. Please get in touch if your section is larger than this as we may be able to accommodate everyone with enough notice. Evening sessions (18:00-20:00) give Scouts and Explorers the opportunity to try Stand Up Paddleboarding. Participants get one hour on the water in their chosen craft and the opportunity to jump in at the end. Pricing structure can be found on the booking page. Full booking information can be found in our ‘A-Z for Leaders’ available to download at the bottom of this page.
In addition to this we also run a six week introductory course for Explorers working towards the Paddle UK, Paddle Awards.
Explorers can also participate in an overnight river trip with us.
The highlight of the year is our annual Water Activities Weekend where participants get to try three different craft in one session.

Kayaking
Kayaking involves moving through the water in a single person craft. The paddler sits in a closed cockpit with their legs extended out in front of them and uses a doubled ended paddle to propel themselves forwards. When you come kayaking with us you can expect a fun filled session with lots of games to put the skills you learn into practise. We teach the fundamental skills (forwards, backwards, manoeuvring) needed for you to have an enjoyable time on the water.
Canoeing
A canoe is a large open cockpit craft paddled by two or more participants with a single bladed paddle. We usually raft two canoes together to make them more stable. This makes them ideally suited to younger participants who may be unsure about about going on the water. It also provides a great platform for a variety of different games so participants get the most out of their time with us.
Stand Up Paddleboarding
Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) has grown in popularity in recent years. It involves using a board which is designed to be paddled from a kneeling or standing position using a single bladed paddle. We started offering Stand Up Paddleboarding in 2023 and it proved hugely popular. It opened up a whole new world of possibilities in regards to what games we can play. A typical session consist of participants getting used to paddling and moving on their board. We do this through a variety of fun and exciting games. When you come Stand Up Paddleboarding with us participants are almost guaranteed to get wet.
Raft Building
When you take part in raft building with us your section will be split into teams. Their challenge is to build a raft from barrels, poles and rope using knots and lashings. Teams will then race to see who will get to the other side of the river first or who’s raft will last the longest and claim overall victory. Participants are almost guaranteed to fall in when their raft inevitably falls apart.
Bell Boating*
Designed by Olympic coach David Train to remove the fear of taking part in watersports. They provide a stable platform to get groups of up to 12 working together. When you book Bell Boating with us participants will compete against each other in a variety of challenges and games.
*Please note only available on the Water Activities Weekend.
We offer two different session types: explore sessions and skills based sessions. In our explore sessions participants learn the basic skills needed to be able to participate in a variety of fun and exciting games. If you opt for a skills based session we can work today’s a specific badge (e.g. Paddlesport Staged Activity Badges).
