Water Activities Weekend

Event Information

Instead of our usual Water Activities Weekend, the team is running a series of Water Activities Days on the following dates:

  • 13th June
  • 18th July
  • 19th September (Backup)

Session times for all dates are:

  • Morning (8:15-11:30)
  • Lunchtime (10:45-13:30)
  • Afternoon (13:15-16:30)

For 2026 we have altered the session times to better reflect the times that you will be collected and arrive back at the village green.

We would encourage Explorers to book onto the afternoon slot where possible.

The cost is £7.50 per person.

As in previous years sessions are two hours long and participants will have the opportunity to try three different activities from kayaking, canoeing, Stand Up Paddleboarding, rafting and bell boating. The activities available to each section differ. For example, Beavers can’t do kayaking or Stand Up Paddleboarding where as Scouts can.

There will be hot and cold refreshments available. All refreshments are £1.00 and cash only.

FAQ

Who can take part?

Our Water Activities Days are open to members of the Scout and Guide Associations from across Cleveland and the surrounding area. We don’t usually allow leaders on the water at these events due to the number of young people in each session.

How many spaces are available?

There is a maximum of 60 spaces available on each session. Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If your choice of session is fully booked you’ll be given the option of an alternative.

What are the parking arrangements?

There is no parking onsite or in Egglescliffe village. It is a 5 – 10 minute walk from Yarm High street to the meeting location at Egglescliffe village green. No cars are to come past the church in the village without prior agreement.

Can I leave a young person leave a session early?

For everyone’s safety nobody is to enter or leave the site without a member of the Watersports team present. You will arrive back at the village green for either 11:30, 13:30 or 16:30 depending upon the session.

What is the backup?

We’ve learnt in the past that if the weather prevents us from running we need an alternative date. If we can not run either of the original dates we will pick up and drop the event onto the 19th September. All others details will stay the same.
